Why You Should Not Send Your Youth To NYLT!

  1. As a parent, you believe they will learn more about leadership by sitting at home playing electronic games.
  2. They may miss the premiere of the latest Star Wars movie, or some other important movie.
  3. Someone must be the follower. Why can’t that be your youth?
  4. Your youth will never be President of the United States. So what good will leadership training be?
  5. Your family is moving “off the grid” and will never make contact with another human.

Why You SHOULD Send Your Youth To NYLT!

  1. Your youth will be taught what a leader must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO. Those skills come alive during the week as their patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
  2. NYLT is a fun-filled, activity-packed program designed to provide youth members of Troops, Crews & Ships with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units. These skills and experiences will also aid them in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
  3. NYLT incorporates the latest leadership ideas and presents fresh, vital and meaningful training for today’s youth.
  4. Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT participants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skill and confidence to lead well.
  5. They will learn many invaluable skills about how to create a vision of success, how to set goals and make plans, how to listen and solve problems, and how to teach and lead.
  6. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment.
  7. The applications to a home unit are immediate. Participants come home from NYLT with a new toolbox of skills at their disposal.
  8. Participants will provide great value to their troop, crew or post with their ability to coach and mentor other Scouts, and Venturers.
  9. Most of all, they learn the bigger picture of how to put the needs of others first in order to be a truly great leader.
  10. Most importantly, they learn to use the Scout Oath and Law to make hard decisions and to remain true to Scouting’s values.
