    • The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is the most significant, council level distinguished service award for adults in the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not actively seek it.Presented at the Council Recognition Dinner.
  • District Award of Merit – Apr 12
    • Available to registered Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. Presented to registered adult volunteers by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is, as a national award presented by councils; it is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award.Presented at the annual District Recognition Dinner in June.
  • Scouter of the Year – Apr 12
  • Spark Plug Award – Apr 12
    • Local awards to recognize registered and non-registered volunteers within the district. Anyone may nominate a Scouter of the Year. Unit Adult Leadership must submit the nomination for Spark Plug Award recipients.Presented at the annual District Recognition Dinner in June.
  • NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award – Oct/Nov
    • Granted by the local council’s NESA committee to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level. The NOESA recognizes Eagle Scouts whose efforts have made a positive impact in the community. Nominations can be submitted through the Council NESA Committee – the deadline for submission is October 15 of each year.Presented at the Council Recognition Dinner.

Scouter Profile Form – To assist you in collecting information for nominations, we have created this fillable PDF. You can use it to record an individual’s training, experience, and prior recognitions. Do not submit the Scouter Profile; keep it for future use. (Expert tip – spouses are a great source of background information).
