WFA_patchWilderness First Aid Training

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.  Youth and adult Scout leaders 16 or older are invited to participate and earn their certification.

The course minimum is 15 participants, and is limited to 35 participants.

Course Schedule: 

Friday March 16 7 to 10 PM CPR Certification

Saturday and Sunday, March 17 – 18 8 AM to 4 PM WFA Certification

(You must have a current CPR Certification to receive WFA Certification)

 Course Costs: CPR Certification Only-$15.00

WFA Certification Only (Must provide proof of current CPR Certification)-$40.00

Both CPR and WFA Certifications-$50.00

Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) training materials and certification.

2 Year Certifications in WFA

2 Year Certification in CPR

What You Need to Bring:   

Pen/Pencil

Paper/Notebook

Lunch each day, snacks, drinks

First aid kit you would normally carry on a hiking trip

Other Important Information: Overnight accommodations are available at the Camp Mack Training Center at no extra cost. Please contact Daniel Hanson 717-553-4205 or daniel.hanson@scouting.org to reserve a bunk.

Meals will not be provided, however, participants can use the refrigerator and Training Center kitchen.

Chain Saw Safety Training

This course covers the skills and knowledge to safely use a chainsaw.  Completion of this training is required to run a chain saw on PA Dutch Council owned properties. This training is open to any adult 18 or older. The training is good for two years.

When: November 4, 2017

Where: Camp Mack Maintenance Shop, 2 Scout Ln, Newmanstown, PA 17073

Equipment needed: Participants must bring their own work gloves, leather boot, safety glasses and hearing protection. If you have a hard hat or logger chaps you can bring them as well.

Cooking for Crowds Food Safety TrainingFood-Safety-First-Logo3

This course is ideal for anyone who helps cook for large groups whether that is at Council, District, or OA events, for unit fundraisers, or even outside of Scouting at events like church picnics or dinners.  Learn how to help keep your patrons healthy and safe.  As of Sept. 1 2012, proof of Cooking for Crowds training or a higher food service safety training is required to use the kitchens on Council owned properties.
